Carlos Gómez is a highly experienced professional with over 20 years of expertise in Investment Banking, Multilateral Development Banks, and Private Companies. He has led numerous large-scale infrastructure and energy investments across Central America, South America, Europe, and Asia. Carlos is skilled in structuring and managing complex investments in various industries, including Energy (Gas to Power and renewable energy), Natural Resources, Infrastructure, PPP projects, and Financial Institutions. He began his career in the Investment Banking sector at Citibank, Société Générale, and HSBC, among others.
During his tenure at the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, Carlos led the creation of the Non-Sovereign and Private Sector business unit. He was responsible for defining the structure, processes, and formation of 32 business executives with the capacity to offer specialized services across Central America and the bank member countries. Carlos was instrumental in securing the successful approval of more than US$1bn in infrastructure projects. Additionally, he managed the portfolio of projects and lines of credit for financial institutions exceeding US$800m.
Before joining the Central American Bank for Economic Integration, Carlos was the Investment and Project Finance Director at Fersa Energías Renovables, a renewable energy investment fund. He supported the internationalization strategy of the fund in Europe and Asia. Carlos also formed part of the business teams of Citibank, HSBC, and Société Générale.
